Books-a-million, Inc.
Books-A-Million (BAM) caters to readers who aren't millionaires. One of the nation's largest booksellers (behind Amazon and Barnes & Noble), the company operates some 260 stores in 30-plus states and Washington, DC, and sells books online. BAM operates superstores under the Books-A-Million, Books & Co., and 2nd & Charles banners, and traditional smaller stores under the Bookland title. All the stores sell discounted hardcover and paperback books, magazines, toys, music, DVDs, and general merchandise. Many stores include Joe Muggs cafés and sell frozen yogurt. The company was bought by management and taken private in 2015.
