The company focuses its exploration and development activities in the Wind River, Uinta, Piceance, Big Horn, Denver-Julesburg, and Paradox Basins and the Montana Overthrusts. Bill Barrett holds almost 1.1 million net undeveloped leasehold acres. The bulk of its properties are unconventional resources, such as shale gas. In 2012 the company had net working interests in more than 1,360 wells and had estimated net proved reserves of more than 1 trillion cu. ft. of natural gas equivalent. Natural gas accounts for the bulk of its reserves.
