Baker Commodities, Inc.
This Baker is somewhere between a butcher and a candlestick maker. Baker Commodities is a rendering company that takes unused animal byproducts from meat processing plants, supermarkets, restaurants, and butcher shops and produces animal fats and oils, poultry and bone meal, and tallow. These products then can be used to make candles, cosmetics, paints, plastics, organic detergents, livestock feed, pet food, and biodiesel. It is one of the nation's largest rendering companies, with 21 plants in about a dozen US states, including four in California, four in New York, and one in Hawaii.
