The company is the world's top distributor of electronic components (including connectors and semiconductors), enterprise computing and storage products, and embedded subsystems, ahead of  Arrow Electronics and  Ingram Micro. Avnet's suppliers include more than 800 component and systems makers; its largest supplier of parts for distribution is  IBM. Avnet distributes these products to more than 100,000 manufacturers and resellers worldwide. Avnet distributes products from about 400 locations in more than 115 countries. In September 2016 Avnet agreed to sell its Technology Solutions business which has supplied 37% of revenue, to Tech Data for $2.6 billion.
