Contrary to its name, Atlantic Power works on both sides of the US. The power company has interests in 28 operational power generation projects across 11 US states and two provinces in Canada. Its power generation projects in operation have an aggregate gross electric generation capacity of approximately 2,950 MW in which its aggregate ownership interest is approximately 2,025 MW. Its plants are located primarily in the Northeast, Southwest, and Northwest. Caithness Energy, Cogentrix Energy, and Western Area Power Administration maintain and operate Atlantic Power's plants and its 84-mile transmission line in California. The company is also developing alternative energy including wind and biomass projects.
