Associated Materials (AM) believes it's what's on the outside that counts. The company makes and distributes exterior residential building products, including vinyl, aluminum, and steel siding, windows, fencing, decking, and railing. It also provides installation services. Products are manufactured at about a dozen facilities in the US and Canada and marketed under the Alside, Gentek, Revere, and UltraGuard brands. AM's products are sold through its own supply centers and via independent distributors and dealers across North America. The company's customer base includes contractors, remodelers, and architects. AM is owned by the private equity firm Hellman & Friedman.
