Alliance Resource Partners, L.P.
Coal is the main resource of Alliance Resource Partners. The company has 10 underground coal mining complexes in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Alliance controls about 650 million tons of reserves. The company produces about 25 million tons of coal annually, nearly all of which is sold to electric utilities. President and CEO Joseph Craft III controls a more than 40% stake in Alliance Resource Partners. Craft, a coal industry veteran, owns his stake in Alliance Resource Partners through Alliance Holdings GP, a company he controls that went public in 2006.
