Alico, Inc.
Alico is bullish on cattle, but citrus generates more revenue. The company, which owns some 140,000 acres of farm land in Florida, dabbles in sugarcane, citrus, vegetables, and sod production, as well as commercial land development. Alico's citrus is packed or processed with fruit from other growers through produce marketer Ben Hill Griffin. It has a breeding herd of approximately 9,000 cattle and it sells stock primarily to meat packing and processing plants. Alico's sugarcane is sold through a pooling agreement with a nearby sugar mill; sod is marketed through a US wholesaler. In addition, the company has real estate sales operations and leases some of its land for grazing, farming, recreation, and mining.
