Alexander & Baldwin (A&B) is all about its real estate and agribusiness operations in The Aloha State. Its A&B Properties subsidiary engages in real estate development and property management for commercial properties, both in Hawaii and five states on the US mainland. It owns 88,000 acres of land in Hawaii, primarily on the islands of Maui and Kauai. In addition, the company produces sugarcane, molasses, and sugar products (under the Maui Brand) through its Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Company. In mid-2012 A&B separated from its former ocean transportation subsidiary, Matson, which carries freight mainly between ports in Hawaii, Guam, China, Alaska, and Puerto Rico and the continental US.
