With all the gas a customer could possibly need, Alagasco is THE gas co. in Alabama. A unit of Spire (formerly The Laclede Group), in 2015 utility Alabama Gas Corporation (Alagasco) distributed natural gas to 425,000 commercial and industrial customers in about half of the counties in the state. The utility also provides gas transportation services to large end users who purchase wholesale gas from suppliers. Alagasco has seven operating districts: Anniston, Birmingham, Gadsden, Montgomery, Opelika, Selma, and Tuscaloosa. The Alagasco distribution system includes 11,230 miles of mains and more than 12,000 miles of service lines.
