ACTS develops, owns, and operates continuing-care retirement communities (CCRSs) in eight US states along the Eastern Seaboard. The company's properties feature resort-style amenities in Christian environments (ACTS comes from a Biblical reference). One of the largest not-for-profit operators of CCRCs in the US, ACTS serves about 8,500 older adults at 21 communities from Pennsylvania to Florida. The not-for-profit organization was founded as Open Door Estates by a group of Pennsylvania church members in 1971.
