Encore Energy Partners is banking on a second trip to the well. The partnership acquires, exploits, and develops existing oil and natural gas properties. Encore Energy's primary assets consist of oil and natural gas properties in the Big Horn Basin of Wyoming and Montana, the Permian Basin of West Texas, and the Williston Basin of North Dakota. In 2009 the company reported proved reserves of 28.9 million barrels of oil and 84.7 billion cu. ft. of natural gas. In a move to expand its property base Denbury Resources acquired Encore Energy's former parent Encore Acquisition in early 2010 for $4.5 billion. Vanguard Natural Resourcesthen acquired Denbury Resources' 46% stake in Encore Energy for $380 million.
