Yum China Holdings owns and operates more than 7,200 fast food restaurants across China. The company, which was created in 2016 when US-based fast food giant YUM! Brands spun off its Chinese operations into a separately traded public company, operates several popular quick-service restaurant chains including Pizza Hut, KFC, Taco Bell, and Little Sheep. YUM! Brands spun off its Chinese operations in order to create two separately traded public companies with their own strategic focus and debt ratio. Yum China Holdings has about 4,250 KFC locations in China, most of them corporate-run.
